Springfield OH Rotary Food Truck Competition Returns August 12!

If you enjoy sampling local food and spending a summer afternoon outdoors, you will want to mark your calendar for the annual Springfield OH Rotary Food Truck Competition! The competition returns on August 12 from 11 AM to 9 PM in the Veteran’s Park Amphitheater and will feature 35 regional food trucks all competing for the grand prize of $10,000! This year’s event will also include live music throughout the day and a beer garden.

The 2017 Springfield Ohio Rotary Food Truck Competition marks its fourth year and with the addition of a mobile app, attendees can vote for their favorite food truck much easier than ever before! Attendees of the competition can simply download the Springfield Food Truck app and vote for one truck from the beginning of the event until 30 minutes prior to the awards— with this year including a “People’s Choice” award!

Celebrate the Fourth of July in Springfield Ohio!

Now that summer has officially begun here in Springfield Ohio, next up is the Fourth of July! Star Spangled Heights Celebration

This fun, family-friendly event begins at 10 AM with the parade down Brandt Pike, then continues at Thomas Cloud Memorial Park with live music, a kids zone, and food trucks!

A Grand Old Independence Day

Celebrate our country’s independence with this community festival featuring period games, contests and more!

Old Fashioned Country Fireworks
When: July 3, 2017; 7 PM
Where: Clark County Fairgrounds

There is no better way to celebrate our nation’s birthday than with a sparkling display of fireworks! This free, family-friendly event will include live entertainment and food vendors before the fireworks begin at dark, approximately 10 PM. The rain date for this event is July 6.

Annual Rotary BBQ and Fireworks
When: July 4, 2017
Where: Grimes Field, Urbana OH

There is nothing more patriotic than celebrating the Fourth of July with great BBQ and a fireworks display! Music will be provided by the Arts Council and should it rain, the venue will change to the Gloria Theatre.

Fourth of July Car Show and Swap Meet
When: July 4, 2017; 8 AM
Where: Green County Fairgrounds, Xenia OH

There is so much to do and see at this Fourth of July event! Awards will be given at the car show including the Best of Show, Oldest Car, Memorial Award and People’s Choice, and door prizes will be given every hour! Awards will begin at 2 PM.

Symphony Orchestra – Summer Arts Festival 2017. June 11; 8 PM; Veteran’s Park Amphitheater. This free outdoor event is one of many in the Springfield Arts Council’s Summer Arts Festival and will feature baroque era music and a fireworks display.

Annie Jr – Summer Arts Festival 2017. June 14-15; 8 PM; Veteran’s Park Amphitheater. Watch as a local cast of young people in grades 1-12 perform the musical Annie Jr in this free outdoor event.

Memorial Day Parade

The theme of this year’s parade—one of the largest in the country—is Duty, Honor, and Country with Grand Marshall Mr. David A. Monroe. The parade will begin by heading North on Fountain Avenue to McCreight, turning left and moving on to Ferncliff Cemetery.

The Time Jumpers are a 9-member group with Vince Gill on vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, Paul Franklin on steel guitar, Brad Albin on upright bass, Larry Franklin on vocals and fiddle, Andy Reiss on electric guitar, Kenny Sears on vocals and fiddle,  Joe Spivey on vocals and fiddle, Jeff Taylor on accordion and piano and Billy Thomas on vocals and drum. The group recently won a Grammy for Best American Roots Song, Kid Sister.
